My California relocation
Relocating is stressful. While Google did pretty much everything they could to make it painless, it was still painful. This is my experience.

California Livin'
So I'm finally moved. Google made the process fairly painless for me, but it was still a very stressful month. And it's not over yet. I thought I'd take a moment to share my experiences so far.

Moving to California
So a few weeks ago, I got an e-mail from a Google recruiter. Six phone interviews and a few days spent in Mountain View later, I was given a job offer. I'm really excited, but I'm dreading the mountain of work and planning I have to do between now and then to relocate.

MySpace and Facebook
I've had a MySpace page for a while now, and I've even commented on it. Off in the periphery I kept hearing of this Facebook thing, and when a co-worker mentioned it to me last week, I figured I'd go ahead and check it out.

Heart Palpitations
Long-time readers may recall a mention several years ago about heart palpitations that occasionally bothered me. I recently saw another doctor about them, but no new news.

Cat in the Lap
I know this is the kind of drivel you see on every Joe or Jane's web site, but I can't resist. She's just so freakin' cute.

Vacation Days
I recently "celebrated" my 7th year at AT&T. This is notable because at 7 years, you get an extra week of vacation. There's also a rule that requires us to take all of our vacation the year it's allocated. For reasons I won't go into at the moment, I've only taken four days of vacation this year, which means I have 18 to schedule between now and the end of the year.
Looks like I'll be home a bit more for the next couple of months!

Is religion a bad thing?
I'm an atheist. I was raised a protestant Christian, but my analytical mind quickly quashed that. Going to church nowadays is done out of respect for the family members I visit every year or so. Wired Magazine is doing a piece titled Battle of the New Atheism. The article discusses the "New Atheist" movement, which seems to be united not just in the belief that religion is wrong, but that it is harmful.

It took me eight months, Will, but here are my responses.
